Beacon Health Options Names Daniel McCoy as Chief Operating Officer

Managed Care Veteran to Set Operational Vision for Behavioral Health Company

BOSTON – Beacon Health Options (Beacon) announced today that Daniel McCoy has joined the national behavioral health management leader as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, effective immediately. In this role, Mr. McCoy will direct Beacon’s core operations, including the company’s four service centers, and implement an operational strategy that ensures best practice enterprise-wide, positioning Beacon for long-term growth. More importantly, he is to ensure service excellence for clients, provider partners, and the individuals Beacon serves. Based in Boston, he reports to Tim Murphy, Beacon’s Chief Executive Officer.

Mr. McCoy comes to Beacon from Amedisys, a leading home health, hospice, and personal care company, where he served as Chief Operating Officer for the past two years. In this position, he supported operations for more than 10,000 employees working in 320 care centers across the nation.

Previously, Mr. McCoy spent 30 years with Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, one of the nation’s largest health benefit companies. His most recent position at the company was Senior Vice President of Operations, supervising a team of seven Vice Presidents and a Director of Operations. He was directly responsible for the operations of 12,000 employees and more than 6,000 vendor partner employees. This role included driving operational efficiencies, improving end-to-end service experience, and streamlining procedures to maximize profitability. During his tenure at Anthem, he also oversaw health plan operations, customer service, claims, membership billing, new business implementation, as well as renewal activity.

Mr. McCoy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Temple University and an Executive Master of Business Administration degree from Eastern College.
